The Academic Activity Center, Academia Sinica, Taiwan is reserved as the conference venue. Academia Sinica is located in the East end of Taipei City. Academia Sinica, one of the leading research institutes in Taiwan, is a place where ideas are embraced and cherished, exploration and research are openly fostered and new knowledge is cultivated and developed for the benefit of society.

Description of Venue (accessibility, conference venue, hotels, transportation)

Academic Activity Center of Academia Sinica is a six-floor building; following is a brief introduction for each floor.

- Level 1:

Level 1 houses the main reception area, a 600-seat auditorium, and an information counter. It also features Cafeteria, Coffee Shop, and Automatic Banking.

‧Grand Opening will be placed at auditorium.

- Level 2:

Level 2 features 5 meeting rooms (Room 1-5) and a 250-seat Lecture Hall. The following is the capacity of each conference room:

Room # 1: 150 seats, equipped with conference system and simultaneous interpretation system

Room # 2: 50 seats, equipped with conference system

Room # 3: 45 seats, equipped with conference system

Room # 4: 30 seats, equipped with conference system

Room # 5: 15 seats

- Level 3-6:

Level 3-6 is the Guest House features 70 single rooms and 40 double rooms.

If more concurrent sessions are required, more conference rooms at the nearby institutes (such as Institute of Information Science and Institute of Earth Science, etc.) are also available.

Accommodation:

Howard Plaza, and Guest House of Academia Sinica will be reserved as the Official Hotel. Good ranges of accommodation in different price categories are available near the venue. Academia Sinica will negotiate a special room rate for participants wishing to stay the Howard Plaza through a block reservation procedure.

Facility

Academic Activity Center of Academia Sinica is equipped to provide all meeting equipment and facilities.

- Simultaneous Interpretation System

An advanced interpretation system enables meeting participants to listen to event proceedings in different languages via headsets.

- Conference-Design Audio System

High-quality, non-delay audio transmission guarantees smooth proceedings, while an automatic microphone system assures in-sequence participation.

- Video/Data Projection Facilities

Standard/high intensity overhead projectors, standard/high intensity/zoom slide projectors, wide screen video projectors.

- Videoconferencing Service

Videoconferencing can be offered via H.323 (Internet based) and H.320 (ISDN) in each conference room at the Academic Activity Center of Academia Sinica.

- High Speed Internet Access

High speed Internet as well as wireless Internet access is offered in all meeting rooms. Academia Sinica also has 6 x STM1 (622 Mbps) direct connection to the US, 1 STM-1 to London, 1-STM 1 direct link to Japan, as well as 1 STM-1 to Hong Kong.

- Digital Environmental Controls

Fully adjustable lighting and temperature controls enable event organizers to create a variety of atmospheres.

Transportation:

CKS International airport is located 50 minutes drive from downtown Taipei. There are 33 airlines providing flights between Taiwan and 56 cities worldwide.

Visa & Working Permit:

Fourteen-day visa-free privileges are afforded to citizens of 20 countries. Eligible countries for application are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands (Holland), Portugal, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, U.K, U.S.A. and Switzerland.

Thirty-day landing visas are afforded to citizens of 23 countries. Eligible countries for application are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Portugal, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A.

The actual program is to be discussed with the Program Committee and Local Organizing Committee.

At least six conference rooms are available for concurrent sessions.

One secretariat room and one preview room are reserved at the venue for the conference.
