Background:

APAN should take lead in advanced networking with IPv6 by deploying high performance IPv6 network.
China started with 3 node 2.5Gbps R&E network with 45M link to Japan.  The Japan-Korea link of 1 Gbps is of dual stack.
We may expand these domestic and international networks to form native high performance IPv6 network in the AP region,
which in turn, collaborate with other regional effort such as 6Net in Europe.  The TransPAC Tokyo-Seattle link is also dual-stack,
as is all of Abilene.  So, it is possible to have native IPv6 connectivity and support v6 experiments from APAN (China-Korea-Japan)
to the US over TransPAC today. The IPv6 Task Force is composed of 3 areas which are IPv6 Engineering and Technology group
(IPv6 Working Group), Operation group (NOC) and Application group.

Objectives:

- Deployment of gigabit native IPv6 production service
- Promote IPv6 development
- Promote IPv6 applications

Scopes:

1) IPv6 Engineering and Technology Group (IPv6 Working Group)
- A forum for dialogue among participates, regarding the research, engineering, operation and various applications in favour of IPv6 in
the region.
- Strives to foster the sharing of information, recognized the "best practices" available in the field.
- Provides a platform to test various IPv6 technologies and its applications among members.
- Promotes collaborations with international researchers on IPv6.
- Assists educational institutions by fostering the continued development and sharing of information on IPv6.

2) Operation Group (NOC)
- Provide stable IPv6 services.
- Coordinates IPv6 Network operation activities.
- Information Sharing.
- 24*7 basic operation (setting, measurement, trouble ticket).
- Common tools for the operation.
- Collaborated environments.

3) Application Group
- provide a forum for dialogue and discussion
- identify requirements for applications which could evidently benefit from IPv6
- facilitate research and development of new applications
- facilitate development of standardized middleware or framework for applications
- strive to bridge the gap between IT experts and domain scientists
- encourage and conduct collaboration or joint projects among participates
