1) Join the Banquet Dinner at Saloma Bistro and Theatre
40th APAN Banquet dinner will be held at the Saloma Bistro & Theatre Restaurant on Wednesday, 12 August 2015 from 7.00 pm – 10.00 pm. All APAN delegates are cordially invited. The pickup point is in front of the IPPP Building. Buses will leave at 5.30 pm. (Non-APAN delegates are welcomed to join at RM120 per person.)
This theatre restaurant is named after Saloma Ismail, a Malaysian diva of evergreen Malay songs. She was married to the multi-talented director, actor, singer and songwriter, the late P.Ramlee. Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this theatre restaurant brings back the nostalgic eras of the 50s and 60s
An hour-long performance of local dances will accompany dinner guests to a buffet of tantalizing feast of local cuisine buffet. Guests will be welcomed with bearers of decorative flowers known as bunga manggar and a cultural troupe accompanied by a beating of kompangs, a traditional Malay percussion instrument. 2) Enjoy a cultural history visit at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM)
For those who wish to go a guided tour of this museum do join us on Wednesday, 12 August 2015. This visit is open for 40 participants on a first come first served basis. The pickup point will be in front of the IPPP Building. The bus will depart at 4.00 pm to the museum. Then at 6 pm the bus will depart to the Saloma Bistro and Theatre Restaurant to join the other APAN delegates for the 40th APAN Banquet. (Non-APAN delegates RM25)
The University of Malaya has its own 80 hectares of lush green lung known as Rimba Ilmu or the Forest of Knowledge. This visit will be on Thursday, 13 August 2015 from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm for 40 delegates on a first come first served basis. Pick up point will be in front of the IPPP Building at 4.30 pm for a short ride on the campus bus to the garden. Comfortable walking shoes and t-shirts are recommended.
After the tour, delegates will be transported back to join the Closing Reception at the IPPP building. The tour will include a visit to the Herbarium, the exhibition area, the conservatory and a walking tour to the Rimba Ilmu area.
4) Have a thrilling green adventure at the Skytrex Shah Alam
Before or after the conference, check out this adventurous activity in the rainforest. Skytrex Adventure provides the first of its kind in Malaysia, a tree to tree ‘sky-trekking’ experience where you can fly, swing, glide and dangle on the various aerial obstacles suspended above the lush tropical Malaysian Rainforest. Just about an hour by cab to Shah Alam, you are able to enjoy jungle trekking from a height never reached before via the canopy of the forest! The entrance fees is between RM35.00 to RM55 per person. Participants are advised to arrange own transportation. Best to go in groups of three by taxi. Open on Saturdays and Sundays only.
