DMCC Disaster Mitigation Workshop
ChairsSimon C. Lin [simon.lin AT]

Disaster Mitigation Competence Centre (DMCC) is part of EGI-Engage Knowledge Common efforts in reducing negative impact and cost imposed by natural disasters in Asia region. The strategy is to strengthen capability to predict the occurrence and induced impact of target disasters by deeper understanding the scientific process via data-intensive, e-Science technologies and collaborations. In this workshop, the DMCC status and implementation approaches will be reported. Case studies from partners (ID, KR, MY, PH, TH, TW, DE), especially the Typhoon Haiyan case, will be presented. Scientific modeling and simulation of target disasters processes is also the focus of this workshop. Additionally, advanced visualization, e-infrastructure, tools and outreach of DMCC will be introduced. Through APAN events and the community, DMCC likes to extend the collaboration and share experiences with all Asia Pacific partners to enhance ability to mitigate disaster effects.
