eduroam Workshop


ObjectivesThe TEIN eduroam Project Workshop is to provide hands-on training to the 8 beneficiary countries of the TEIN eduroam Project. The purpose of the project is to extend the deployment of eduroam into countries where there is limited or no existing eduroam coverage. This project will fund 2 persons from each of the 8 beneficiary countries to attend this Workshop in APAN46. This Workshop is an extensive eduroam training program which other NRENs in APAN may be interested and welcome to participate.

Session 1 : Introduction to eduroam

In this session, the National Roaming Operator role, responsibilities and technical requirements will be discussed. This will be followed with a hands-on lab exercise to gain familiarity with NRO RADIUS server deployment using virtualised environments and open-source RADIUS software.

The service provider and identity provider roles, responsibilities and technical requirements of institutions joining eduroam will be discussed in this session. This will be followed with a lab exercise to deploy the institutional RADIUS server to simulate authentication across different “institutions”.
