Nimal Ratnayake is attached to the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University of Peradeniya. He has been involved in research and education networks since the 1990s. He has had a long association with Lanka Education and Research Network (LEARN) from 1994 to 2012. During this period, he has served as a member of the LEARN Management Committee and Technical Director of the LEARN Project of the UGC, and as the Chief Executive Cfficer after LEARN began operations as a separate company.
Nimal Ratnayake has also had a long association with APAN, starting from 2003. He has been a member of a number of committees in APAN, and has held positions in a number of working groups and committees. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of APAN from 2010 to 2014. He is currently the chair of the APAN Election Committee and the Director of the APAN Secretariat.
