National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) play a pivotal role in enabling advanced communication and collaboration among academic, research, and educational institutions. However, many countries in the Asia-Pacific region face challenges in establishing and scaling their NRENs due to limited resources, technical expertise, and funding. To address these challenges and foster collaboration, a Special Interest Group (SIG) on “Emerging National Research and Education Networks” is proposed under the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). This SIG will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, best practices, and resources among emerging and established NRENs, promoting sustainable development of research and education networking in the region.
